How to simple say “NO.”
Do you ever struggle to pucker your lips together to say “NOOOOO”?
This simple, two-letter word has caused some people to:
- Overcommit
- Compromise a personal agreement
- Avoid answering e-mails, text messages and phone calls
- LIE
- Feel guilty
I have spent some time researching and understanding “WHY” this is… but I will keep that for another day. Instead, I want to share with you the HOWs. This is not going to be a step by step blueprint about how to say NO in every situation…NO! Instead, I am going to share one simple but profound tip that will help you re-align and stay true to yourself.
Let me begin by sharing a personal story of a client that I was working with, in my private practice:
My former client was a powerful and successful woman. She didn’t have any difficulty saying NO at work. In fact, she usually added a “Hell” in front of it for a nice “Hell NO.” But this fierceness was not translated in other areas in her life. Particularly in her family life. She had no children but was dating, and was the one who had “made it” in the family. You know the one that everyone sees as the money seed…uhh huhh!
